My name is Kathleen Rhee, I was born in Brisbane, Australia. I guess you could say I have my head in the clouds and my feet on the ground, happily connected to the earth but always dreaming of my next painting.
I always wanted to be an artist. Creating, painting and drawing came very easy to me. There was never any other option. I was born with an innate love of art and was also influenced by an extremely creative family. Visiting galleries as a child was something we did and it was also a big part of my schooling from the early years and continued into high school. It was only natural in my mind I would become a painter.
I need to to paint everyday. For me the physical act of painting is an escape from reality, a place that needs no words or explanation. Expressing my inner world, feelings, energy, motion, my deep connection to the earth, life and mother nature.
My studio is out in the country on a big family property. It is a very peaceful place with great memories and wonderful energy. It takes me about 35 mins to drive out each day. I work in a large rustic industrial shed with lots of space and beautiful views of green trees, rolling hills and a flowing river.
Art for me is my life, somewhat of an obsession, I live and breathe it. I can’t imagine doing anything else. I am blessed and thankful to be doing what I love everyday.
